TouchProtect PS5 - Install Guide

First off I’d like to thank you for buying a TouchProtect. These have been on every one of my controllers since inventing them in 2013. I hope you enjoy using them as much as I have over all of these years. ⚠️Important Note⚠️

Installing TouchProtect is very simple. One thing to note about the PS5 version is that you need to pay extra attention to the bottom edge. As you can see in the images above, if you install them with some overlap, the TouchProtect will grab onto the lightbar and be a brat. Don’t let them!

Step 1

So you’ve opened your TouchProtect. Let’s start by peeling them off the backing paper. Try to not touch the adhesive too much. If you do, it’s not that big of a deal.

Step 2

Remember that warning before you started? Here’s where you need to be careful. I like to hold the controller as shown in the images, and focus on lining up one corner first. Don’t press too hard, because if you misalign it a bit you can always go back and try again. Once you’ve got the bottom edges aligned really well it’s time for…

Step 3

Hold the top of the touchprotect flat and give it some tension. Not super tight, just a little will do. This is another step where you don’t have to press too hard; you can do that at the end when you are sure that everything is lined up. With your other finger glide your thumb left and right while slowly working your way up the touchpad. Stop somewhere around the top where the red dotted line is in the photo above.

Step 4

You’re almost done. I like to reposition the controller to how you see above for this step. From there I’ll work my way around the edge of the touchpad and focus on one corner. Once that corner looks good then I like to slide my finger slowly across to the other edge. Congrats! You’re all set. If you weren’t pressing too hard feel free to go back and rub your fingers around to make sure it’s stuck on there.

Step 5

Congrats! 🎉

There isn’t really a step 5. I just figured it would be a good place to let you know a little bit about how these are designed:

I designed these to 1/10th of a millimeter, and printed 37 different revisions to get them to where they are today. They are slightly bigger than the PS5 touchpad, and this is intentional. I found that with the white color, as well as a flatter edge of the PS5 touchpad that a little bit of overlay worked best. I try my best to put a lot of thought into how people will use my products, and an easy installation was towards the top of my priority list on these guys. If you installed them properly there will be more overhang at the top edge than the bottom. The sides are identical.
